about us

In 1996, Jose Jimenez founded OPI after arriving in the United States from Mexico in 1990 and experiencing blindness due to glaucoma in 1986. He learned English as a second language, which made him aware of the importance of integrating non-English speaking communities into mainstream American culture. Despite his condition, he remained passionate about this belief and inspired those around him to encourage and motivate individuals through various programs. OPI offers sports clinics for golf and goalball, recreational activities, educational workshops, community service, immediate needs transportation, white cane exchange, international interchange, counseling, and orientation programs. All of these programs aim to empower and improve the lives of members of the community.
