Welcome to our organization
Our Mission
The Organization for the Physically Impaired is pledged to empower its members through social, educational, cultural, recreational and sports programs, to integrate them into the society at large.
About Us
OPI was founded in 1996 by Jose Jimenez, who arrived in the United States from Mexico in 1990. He was afflicted with blindness by Glaucoma in 1986 and learned to speak, read, and write English as a second language. Through that process, he became cognizant of the importance for other non-English speaking communities to be integrated into the mainstream American culture.
Despite his condition, his passion for this belief transpired through those around him. Currently the OPI community has been in operation for more than 14 years, supporting individuals, local and abroad, with a multitude of self-development programs.
